WinSurv3D

This exciting product utilizes the latest graphic capabilities to provide an interactive, true 3D-rendered view of a virtually unlimited number of well paths and targets. It also features database archival of all of your projects, and self-contained, user-friendly plotting functionality for both wall plots and 8.5X11 or A4 size drawings.

3D Graphics

The graphic shown below does not do justice to this incredible 3D interface. This type of interface goes beyond mere presentation. One can interact with this screen dynamically, and plan wells, or make projections, measure distances, look at ellipses of uncertainty, create new targets or formations or hard lines and take snapshots of any view they want. The ability to see things with a true 3D perspective is absolutely superior to 2D and stick 3D drawings.

The white lines emanating from the center well path are the least distances from that point to three wells. In this case, a criterion of less than 500 ft was set for the scan. The ellipsoids shown for each well clearly show that there is no interference between them. The user can easily move around the 3D space using the keyboard, mouse and or joystick. It's like playing a game, but in this case, the 3D is showing an advanced engineering view. The user can easily ascertain information from the objects in the view by either passing over them with the mouse, or by clicking on them.

Plotting

A complete interface dedicated to generating presentation quality plots is included. In the three Adobe files that are provided below, none of them required more that 5 minutes to prepare from scratch. The same plots could also be generated from saved templates (that the user creates) and prepared in even less time.

The file will open in your browser. Then you may save the file, if you like, to view it later.

To view these files requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader. To download the Reader, click here and follow the instructions.

Database

There are no pretty pictures one can make of a database.

Databases are all about organization of information. Databases are often designed by people who don't have to use them. As such, limitations are often built into relational databases that make it difficult, if not impossible, to say, move a Platform and all the slots and wells and surveys from one field to another field.

You may say to yourself, "but why should I want to do that?" There can be numerous reasons, not least of which is that people make mistakes. You may also get a request from a client that they want to have all the data for a given platform, or a given field in a database. With inSURV3D one can organize data under one super database of all fields and platforms or organize data into as many sub-databases as you want.

For example, if you wanted to maintain a database of all the fields and platforms of a given oil company, independent of other oil companies, you can. If you want to maintain a database of a given region you can do it easily. If you want to 'cut and paste' data from one database to another it is very easy to do.

Grid Calculations

Older versions of Winsurv3D licenses Blue Marble Geographics Grid conversion system. Newer versions will use GeoHawk, a product licensed by Performance Drilling Technology, Inc.
